Discussion:

One idea I have about why Cora could not bring up her daughters to be as close as the March sisters in 'Little Women' is that she obviously spent a lot less time with them when they were children than Mrs March did. While Mrs March took care of her daughters both physically and spiritually, she was there for them in good times as well as in times of their tantrums, bad moods, moments of laziness, and taught them to solve conflicts, Cora6 being an aristocrat, probably devoted only a few hours a day to her daughters when they were younger. Having too much free time, as in case of the Crawley sisters, might also have a negative effect on one's character. However, all things considered, Cora did not, at the end of the day, do so badly.
